GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEERS & GEOLOGISTS
Current Position Available
The Robert B. Balter Company is looking for beginning to mid-level Geotechnical Engineers and/or Geologists to be associated with a vibrant Baltimore-based firm dedicated to offering the highest standards in a comfortable environment. Our collaborative environment will allow you to participate on large scale, important projects that are all Quality Based Selection. Projects are primarily located within the Mid-Atlantic region.
General Responsibilities:

Prepare technical proposals, cost estimates, and correspond with clients.

Provide geotechnical/technical support with other staff.
-
Work on geotechnical engineering projects from beginning to finish, including working with drilling team in the field.

Prepare geotechnical reports.
-
Work with inspection and laboratory departments.
Candidate Requirements:
-
BS civil engineering/geotechnical engineering, geology minimum, MS a plus.
-
Minimum of 3 years of experience.
-
Minimum EIT/GIT, PE or PG a plus.
-
Self-motivated with strong communication skills.
-
Personal transportation a must.
-
Willing to travel and work out of town for short periods.
Salary will be commensurate with experience. Balter is an EOE.

GEOTECHNICAL DRILLERS
Current Position Available
The Robert B. Balter Company is actively seeking experienced Geotechnical Drillers. The ideal candidate will have an in-depth understanding of geotechnical drill rig operations and drilling techniques, including Hollow Stem Auger, Casing advance drilling, Mud Rotary Drilling, SPT sampling, Shelby Tube Sampling, Rock Coring, and Instrumentation installation including Monitoring Wells, Inclinometers, etc.
Requirements:

High School diploma.

Needs to be reliable, motivated with a good attitude and work ethic.

Ability to meet pre-employment requirements.

Clean Driving Record.
-
Personal transportation to commute to company office.
-
Ability to lift 50 pounds.
-
Organizational skills and ability to work with others.

Clean and maintain company assigned vehicle, drill rig, and equipment
-
Experience with writing boring logs, or ability to learn.
-
Willingness to expand their skills and certifications.
-
CDL class A or B is a plus but not required.
-
Apprentice-Journeyman-Master Well Driller licenses preferred, but not required.
Starting rates $24 - $35 per hour based on experience. Benefits include full health insurance plans, vacation, paid sick leave, life insurance, and profit sharing.

Balter is looking for someone who has a technical engineering background whose passion is Business Development. This person ideally is excited to help shape our business development strategy as we expand our existing client base and service offerings in the Mid-Atlantic Region, as well as into new markets.
What You’ll Do:

Learn about Balter's history and gain an understanding of the company services and capabilities.

Work with Balter's project managers to build current client relationships as well as to develop new relationships.

Evaluate, pursue and follow up on leads in the market.

Attend industry networking events and be able to discuss Balter's services and expertise in the industry.

Mentor junior staff and foster a culture of quality, teamwork, and professional development.
What You Bring:
-
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field. Civil or geotechnical engineering a plus. PE or PG license a plus.

Minimum of 1-2 years of experience working in the engineering consulting industry.
-
Minimum of 2 years experience in business development, client relations, or strategic marketing.

Strong technical foundation and ability to lead multidisciplinary teams.
-
Excellent communication and proposal writing skills.

Ability to meet deadlines and to work independently.
-
Ability to work extended hours as needed.
