Laboratory/Material TestingThe Robert B. Balter Company has two full-service materials testing laboratories accredited by AASHTO, Corps of Engineers (USACE ER-1110-1-261), and WACEL for a total of 87 procedures. They conform to the requirements of ASTM D3740 (soils), ASTM C1077 (concrete), ASTM D3666 (asphalt), C1093 (unit masonry), applicable sections of ASTM E-329, and AASHTO R-18, and are inspected by AMRL and CCRL. To earn and maintain this designation, highly defined QA/QC procedures for training, equipment, calibration, technician certification and knowledge, reporting detail, and accuracy of test results are mandated. Proficiency testing is conducted regularly by CCRL and AMRL for all tests within our certifications. Under the supervision of PE's, laboratory managers direct a staff of technicians with certifications by NICET, ACI, MARTCP, VDOT, FAA-ERLPM, and WACEL. All procedures are performed in accordance with a QA/QC Laboratory Manual that is approved by the certifying agencies. Resources allow high volume and quick turnaround of a comprehensive array of tests including soils, rock, concrete, aggregate, asphalt, unit masonry, fireproofing, and water tests. Advanced geotechnical tests are performed on fully automated research-grade apparatus resulting in exceptionally rapid and error-free detailed test reports. This automation permits the cost effective generation of highly sophisticated test results. Computer generated reports and data can be transmitted electronically at the client's request.
